1. 2022 Danish Government Masters Scholarship for Engineering International Students.

The University of Southern Denmark offers the Danish Government Scholarship – supported by the Ministry of Higher Education and Science – to certain applicants in recognition of the important investment that overseas students make during their education.

The scholarship consists of two parts: a full tuition fee waiver and a grant, to help cover living costs amounting to DKK 3000 per month before taxes.

6. United Nations University Master of Science in Sustainability Program.

The Master of Science in Sustainability program is a two-year program, which provides students with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to contribute to solving challenges of sustainability. Drawing on an innovative, interdisciplinary approach, the program integrates methods and resources from the natural and social sciences, as well as the humanities. The program is intended for recent graduates, professionals, and practitioners who seek to meaningfully contribute to the work of governments, civil society, the private sector, and/or the UN and other international organizations in the area of sustainability.

The Master of Science in Sustainability Programme builds on UNU’s strong record in research and capacity development, as well as the extensive network of scholars and academic institutions participating in UNU research. The program is practice-oriented, user-focused, and of the highest academic quality. It provides students with unique opportunities to interact with leading scholars and policymakers through lectures, international conferences, and workshops.

The program starts in September, and by July of the second year, students must complete the course requirements, obtaining at least 30 credits. Students can select courses from those offered by UNU-IAS, while also enjoying the opportunity to take courses at other leading universities in Japan such as the University of Tokyo, Sophia University, International Christian University, and Yokohama National University.

Requirements for the Master of Science in Sustainability Programme

Those who wish to participate in the double degree program of UNU-IAS and the University of Tokyo (Department of Urban Engineering in the Graduate School of Engineering) must be shortlisted by the University of Tokyo before applying to UNU-IAS.

The JFUNU scholarship provides a monthly allowance of 120,000 JPY* for living expenses for a maximum of 24 months. However, travel costs to and from Japan, visa handling fees, and health/accident insurance costs must be covered by the student. The tuition fees are fully waived for the scholarship recipients.

9. UNAIS Ph.D. Scholarship Programme.

The UNAIS Ph.D. Scholarship Programme in Sustainability Science is a three-year program that aims to produce scholars who will become key researchers in the field of sustainability science. The program takes an innovative approach to sustainability, seeking to promote a better understanding of the issues by incorporating global change perspectives, specifically those related to climate change and biodiversity.

The UNAIS Ph.D. The scholarship Programme will equip graduates with comprehensive, multidisciplinary knowledge of sustainability problems, and deepen their understanding of the role of environmental sustainability in addressing current issues related to global change. The program provides students with unique opportunities to interact with leading scholars and policymakers through lectures, international conferences, and workshops. Students undertake problem-oriented research by playing an active role in UNU-IAS research projects and acquire the quantitative and qualitative analytical skills necessary to understand the underlying principles of various systems involved in sustainability issues and debates. Through coursework and research, Ph.D. students gain critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as the technical literacy required to address sustainability problems.

The program starts in September, and by July of their third-year students are expected to complete all of the course requirements, obtaining at least 14 credits. Students can select courses from those offered by UNU-IAS, while also enjoying the opportunity to take courses at other leading universities in Japan such as the University of Tokyo, Sophia University, and International Christian University.

Admissions Requirements for the UNAIS Ph.D. Scholarship Programme

Applicants for the Ph.D. in Sustainability Science are required to have met ALL of the following requirements by the application deadline to be considered:

1. A completed Master’s degree (or equivalent) from a recognized university or institution of higher education and demonstrated ability to link course work and activities to principles of sustainability;

10. Taiwan ICDF International Higher Education Scholarships.

The Taiwan ICDF (International Cooperation and Development Fund) provides scholarships for higher education and has developed undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. programs in cooperation with renowned partner universities in Taiwan.

The Taiwan ICDF provides each scholarship recipient with a full scholarship, including return airfare, housing, tuition and credit fees, insurance, textbook costs, and a monthly allowance.

General Eligibility Criteria for TaiwanICDF Scholarship

An applicant must:

✓ Be a citizen of a country on the List of Countries Eligible for TaiwanICDF Scholarship, and satisfy any specific criteria established by his or her country and/or the government of citizenship.

✓ Neither be a national of the Republic of China (Taiwan) nor an overseas compatriot student.

Satisfy the admission requirements of the partner university to which he or she has applied to study under a Taiwan ICDF

✓ Be able to satisfy all requirements for a Resident Visa (Code: FS) set by the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) set by the Ministry of the Interior, of the ROC (Taiwan) government (this means that the Taiwan ICDF has the right to revoke a scholarship offered if an applicant cannot satisfy the visa requirements).

✓ Upon accepting a Taiwan ICDF scholarship, not hold any other ROC (Taiwan) government-sponsored scholarship (such as the Taiwan Scholarship) in the same academic year in which the Taiwan ICDF scholarship would be due to commence.

✓ Not be applying for another Taiwan ICDF scholarship in unbroken succession —to apply for a 2022 scholarship, applicants who have already held a Taiwan ICDF scholarship, MOFA’s Taiwan Scholarship or a MOE scholarship must have graduated before July 31, 2021.

The University of New Haven Academic English Preparatory Program is a comprehensive pre-academic English for academic purposes program. It addresses the needs of students who intend to pursue undergraduate or graduate degree studies at the University of New Haven upon completion of their Academic English Preparatory Program. Designed to prepare students for optimal academic success, content is specifically tailored to a student’s major, and support for adjusting to American culture is included as part of this program. Academic English Language Proficiency training in Listening, Reading, Speaking, Writing, as well as, other academic study skills are provided to students during each 4-month semester term.

12. University of Oxford Reuters Institute Journalism Fully Funded Fellowship Programme

The Journalism Fellowship Programme at the Reuters Institute is one of the world’s leading schemes for practicing, mid-career journalists to take some time out from their day jobs to explore journalism in-depth. The majority of our Journalist Fellows are fully-funded and they also receive a stipend to cover living and travel costs.

Through personal research, seminars, networking events, and discussions with your peers, you will further your understanding of journalism, the news industry, and your place in it. While you are in Oxford, you will work on a project that will be of direct impact to you, your career, your newsroom, and the wider media industry, bringing in what you learn during your time in the fellowship. This is a program for working journalists and editors who will return to journalism after spending a few months with us. 

Eligibility criteria for the Reuters Institute Journalism Fellowship Programme

  • To be considered for one of our journalist fellowships, you must have a minimum of five years’ journalistic experience, or in rare cases demonstrate the equivalent level of expertise.
  • The Journalist Fellowships are open to journalists from all over the world, including Europe, Africa, the Asia-Pacific region, North America, and Latin America.

  • Most journalists on the program are fully funded. Successful applicants get their fees covered and receive a monthly stipend of £2,000, which will be enough to cover the cost of accommodation, food, and general living expenses. Reuters Institute will also cover the cost of travel to and from the UK and any visa costs.

Eligibility Requirements for the FirstRand Oxford African Studies Scholarship

  • FirstRand will conduct the interviewing and selection process, which will run concurrently with the FirstRand Laurie Dippenaar scholarship for international postgraduate study, based on academic excellence, leadership ability, community involvement and the candidate’s potential to be a destiny changer.
  • Candidates have to apply and be accepted for an MSc in African Studies at the University of Oxford. Applications for the FirstRand Oxford African Studies scholarship are online only.
  • FirstRand and the African Studies Centre are looking for the best applicants who will truly benefit from the opportunity and contribute to South Africa on their return.
  • Closing date for the applications for the MSc in African Studies at the University of Oxford is midday UK time on Friday 21 January 2022.

Benefits

The scholarship will provide full funding for one student each year to study a masters degree at the African Studies Centre at the University of Oxford.

The successful candidate will be housed at Wadham College. The partnership is for another year.
